Taylor Spatial Frame Behavior in High Tibial Osteotomies: A Clinical–Mechanical Study

چکیده
The introduction of Taylor Spatial Frame (TSF) in clinical practice allows for unique capabilities long bone deformity corrections; however, a comprehensive understanding its mechanical characteristics and their impact on callus formation at the osteotomy site is still unclear. current study concerned with application TSF high tibial (HTO) testing this device. Fifty-five (55) patients symptomatic medial compartment knee osteoarthritis varus underwent open-wedge HTO use were prospectively monitored regard to pattern osteotomy. Clinical evaluation revealed that was eccentric all patients. In addition, experimental results from clinically relevant configuration indicate, vertical deflection upper part during weight-bearing accompanied by rotation axis, which acts same direction applied correction process. complementary contributions process response under compressive loads, lead asymmetric gap closure, promotes site. provides useful information decision-making regarding when external fixator HTOs.

Does the Taylor Spatial Frame accurately correct tibial deformities?
BACKGROUND Optimal leg alignment is the goal of tibial osteotomy. The Taylor Spatial Frame (TSF) and the Ilizarov method enable gradual realignment of angulation and translation in the coronal, sagittal, and axial planes, therefore, the term six-axis correction. QUESTIONS/PURPOSES We asked whether this approach would allow precise correction of tibial deformities. METHODS We retrospectively...

TECHNIQUE The Lyon Schuss view (an anteroposterior weight-bearing radiograph taken with the knee in 20–30 degrees flexion) offers greater accuracy in determining moderate to severe loss of joint space compared with the standard weight-bearing view with the knee fully extended3,4. This is particularly so in lateral compartment arthritis where the pattern of disease is different, ie the posterior...
متن کاملCorrection of tibial deformity in Paget's disease using the Taylor spatial frame.
A 64-year-old man presented with a severe deformity of the tibia caused by Paget's disease and osteoarthritis of the ipsilateral knee. Total knee replacement required preliminary correction of the tibial deformity. This was successfully achieved by tibial osteotomy followed by distraction osteogenesis using the Taylor spatial frame. The subsequent knee replacement was successful, with no recurr...
متن کاملHigh tibial osteotomy in medial compartment osteoarthritis and varus deformity using the Taylor spatial frame: early results
We report the early results of high tibial osteotomy (HTO) in medial compartment osteoarthritis (OA) and varus deformity using the Taylor spatial frame (TSF). Between October 2005 and April 2007, 9 patients with medial compartment OA and varus deformity underwent TSF application and medial opening wedge HTO. Pre- and post-operative Oxford knee scores, SF-12 and visual analogue pain scores were ...

OBJECTIVE To investigate the outcomes of tibial nonunions and bone defects treated with the Taylor Spatial Frame (TSF) using the Ilizarov method. DESIGN Retrospective. SETTING Limb Lengthening and Deformity Service at an academic medical center. PATIENTS Thirty-eight consecutive patients with 38 tibial nonunions were treated with the TSF. There were 23 patients with bone defects (average ...
